Golden Day

It was Golden Day for the Deen Club children and we had a wonderful jam packed day of fun, fun, fun! The children moved around the house doing activities in small groups. With Sr. Nazra in the kitchen, there was a dawah activity explaining Eid al-Adha to non-Muslims. The children decorated a card and box with a delicious cupcake inside and a message.

Sr. Nadia and Sr. Yasmin did a fun word search finding key words related to Eid al-Adha and the Hajj. They also decorated a Hajj bookmark shaped as a pillar, because Hajj is the fifth and last pillar of Islam.

Inside as well, we had Sr. Moona and Sr. Nagum doing Eid cards for the children to make and decorate. The children had one for their mummies and daddies and two for a friend. The cards were then sealed and labelled ready to hand out on Eid day.

Outside with Br. Ephrahim, Br. Sykander, Br. Shizad and Br. Suffian was piñata decorating funI The three piñata boxes represented the three jamarats which are stoned during the Hajj. The children glued and stuck on colourful crepe paper.

The children had a great time and all of the sisters and brothers did a fantastic job, mashallah! Jazakullah khair to Br. Kashif for the photos.

Hifdth books for the Deen Stars

 

Sr. Yasmin made beautiful Hifdh log books for the Quran teachers to write down how the children did that week.

The Rainbows update

Down the road at the Al-Zaidy residence little minds and hands have been hard at work, with Sr.Nazra and Amal. Mashallah the under 5’s are learning to say bismillah, inshallah, jazakallah and allhumdulliah.

They made fruit kebabs and gobbled them up, but saying bismillah (in the name of Allah) and learnt when to use inshallah (Allah is willing).

They made special cards for their mums and dads, saying jazakallah (Allah bless you or grant you goodness).

This week they made sneezing lions and learnt to say allhumdulliah (praises be to Allah). 

Surah Naba and The Hajj

 The children are now making a start on Surah Naba from Juz Ama. Each week they will be working on three iyats from the surah. Br. Suffian talked briefly about the translation; he gave the children examples of good deeds and bad deeds, as well as ignoring our worst enemy shaitan.

For Islamic Studies the Deen Stars had a real treat! Br. Ephrahim explained the five days of Hajj in the run up to Eid al Adha. The children mapped out the parts of the Hajj, dressed up and answered questions. 

They watched a video which showed the actual spiritual experience of the Hajj and how it changes you. 

Surah Fatiha and Allah (SWA) can see us

For our second week the children made a start of reciting the Quran. They have all begun with Surah Fatiha with the teachers Br. Suffiyan, Br. Sykander, Sr. Yasmin and Sr. Nagum listening to the children’s recitation, as well as grouping the children in accordance to what stage they are in.

 

Br. Kashif worked with the children to teach them about Allah (SWA) seeing them everywhere. He talked about Allah (SWA) being the Al-Basir (the all seeing). The children watched a cartoon which explained this concept.

They did a  drawing and wrote a sentence to say where Allah (SWA) can see them. Br. Kashif then set them a challenge of thinking about a special place where Allah (SWA) can see them. After some thought Abdulla got it right and said, ‘In your heart, Allah (SWA) can even see what is in your heart!’ 

The children listened to the story of the ‘thirsty man and a dog,’ and how he enters jannah for feeding the thirsty dog by going into the well. Br. Kashif explained that no one could see his actions, even the dog couldn’t praise the man’s hard efforts. But Allah (SWA) sees everything and has granted this man jannah, subhanallah
