The 'real' Jesus play and the end of term

Allhumdulliah the ‘Deen Club families’ have completed the first term of teaching as well as learning. We had planned to do a little presentation at the end of each term- as is done at school, but with an Islamic twist for the children.

The children performed a play which had taken up many Islamic studies lesson in order to rehearse for. The play was called ‘The real story about Jesus.’ We thought at this time of the year the children are exposed to lots of Christmas festivities. Therefore it’s important for them to know what we as Muslims believe in with regard to Christmas and Prophet Isa (AS).

The children performed the play as a news report with Huda and Layth as the main newsreaders. Abdullah, Ma’moon and Umar played news reporters as well as Islamic experts. Khadija also played the role of two different experts in Islamic knowledge. Fatima played the role of a child in school explaining what Christmas is like, and Hafsa played a mum in a shopping centre, they both were part of the panel of experts too.

In order to make sure the ‘rainbows’ didn’t feel excluded they were part of the advertisement in the middle of the news report. The play was finished off with a nasheed 'Isa is a prophet of Islam.'
Behind the scenes before the presentation, mashallah the children look chilled before their performance!
